The ten tools
What the AI does, who it suits and what it costs
The most useful AI for HR usually lives inside the system that already holds your employee data. Before you buy a separate tool, check what your current HRMS or ATS has switched on, and what your general assistant, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, can already do with approved documents.
1. Keka: Keka AI and Keka Copilot
Keka HR, India
Keka has built AI into its HR and payroll platform rather than selling it separately. The emphasis is practical: drafting the right job description, checking a payroll run for errors before it is committed, and answering employees’ HR questions with a link to the record or policy behind the answer.
What the AI does: drafts job descriptions with level, pay band and skills context and screens candidates against requirements; checks for payroll anomalies before the run; and, through Keka Copilot, answers HR questions and handles everyday requests, citing its sources. An MCP server lets approved external AI assistants connect to Keka.
Who it suits: Indian small and mid-sized companies that want AI on the HRMS they already use for payroll and compliance.
- Every answer cites its source record or policy
- Actions need explicit human confirmation
- Vendor states your data never trains external models
- Some modules’ AI is still marked as coming
- Full tier prices not shown on the pricing page we loaded
- Value depends on clean HR data in Keka

2. greytHR: NAVOS
greytHR, India
NAVOS, launched in June 2026, is an agentic assistant built into greytHR’s HRMS. It does more than answer questions: it carries out routine HR actions on request, within each organisation’s existing permissions and workflows.
What the AI does: executes everyday actions across payroll, core HR, leave and attendance, performance and recruitment; finds employee records, workflows, department reports and HR knowledge content; and works within the permissions your administrators have already set.
Who it suits: Indian SMEs and mid-sized firms, including manufacturing and multi-site teams, that run payroll on greytHR.

3. Darwinbox: Sense and Super Agent
Darwinbox, headquartered in Hyderabad
Darwinbox’s AI layer, Sense, runs across its HCM platform, and Super Agent, announced in September 2025, takes plain-language requests and carries out multi-step workflows that span HR, IT and finance systems, with approvals and audit trails.
What the AI does: turns natural-language requests into multi-step workflows across connected tools; exposes HR functions to outside AI agents through an MCP server with access controls; and runs on Darwinbox’s own language model, according to the company.
Who it suits: large Indian and Asian enterprises already on Darwinbox, and HR leaders who want AI to act across departments.

4. Zoho People and Zoho Recruit: Zia

Zia is Zoho’s AI assistant across its apps. In Zoho People it acts as an HR assistant for employees and HR staff; in Zoho Recruit, paid plans include AI, and the Enterprise tier lists AI candidate matching.

LinkedIn Talent Solutions
Hiring Assistant is LinkedIn’s AI agent for recruiters, sold as an add-on to LinkedIn Recruiter. It starts with an intake conversation about the role, then runs searches, reviews applicants and drafts outreach on the recruiter’s behalf.

What the AI does: flags biased or off-brand language in job posts and recruiting messages; gives managers in-the-moment guidance while they write performance feedback; and, in a newer product, aligns interview questions to the role and documents interview feedback.

Where Skillopedia fits
A tool is not a skill
Skillopedia does not sell or resell HR software. We are a training firm (Skillopedia LLP, Mumbai, est. 2017) that has worked with 335+ organisations across 13 sectors, and we run live, in-company AI training for HR teams. Recruiters, HRBPs, L&D and HR operations practise on their own redacted job descriptions, policies and survey comments, using the HRMS AI and the general assistant your company has approved.
The aim is simple: everyone uses the tools the same way, checks output before it reaches an employee or candidate, and keeps personal data where it belongs. The deeper programme is described on generative AI for HR, and participants rate our programmes 4.8/5 on average (300+ surveyed).
How to choose
Platform AI, a specialist tool or a general assistant?
Start with what you already pay for. If your HRMS is Keka, greytHR, Darwinbox, Zoho, Workday or SuccessFactors, its AI already sits on your employee data and permissions. Switching it on and training people is usually cheaper and safer than adding another system.
Add a specialist only for a clear gap. High-volume recruiting may justify LinkedIn’s Hiring Assistant or Eightfold; a performance culture problem may justify Lattice or Textio.
Do not forget the general assistant. Much day-to-day HR writing, such as policy drafts, FAQs, interview guides and learning content, is done in a general assistant. Microsoft’s India pricing page, for example, lists the Microsoft 365 Copilot Business add-on from ₹1,745 per user per month on an annual subscription (shown at a promotional ₹1,495.73 when we checked), before GST. For the recruiting workflow itself, see our guide on how to use AI in recruitment.

Questions to ask a vendor
- Which AI features are generally available today, and which are announced?
- Is our data used to train any model?
- Where is our data stored and processed?
- Can we see an audit log of AI actions?
Red flags
- AI that rejects candidates with no human review
- No answer on bias testing
- Vague data-use terms
- Demos on sample data only
Before rollout
- Write a short HR AI usage rule
- Pilot with one team and three tasks
- Train people on checking output
- Review at day 30 and day 90
A rollout path
Rolling out AI tools in HR in five steps
The tool decision is the easy part. Most HR AI projects stall on permissions, data quality and habits. This sequence keeps the risk low and makes the value visible early.
Data and fairness
What to check before you switch HR AI on
Personal data. India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules notified in November 2025 apply to employee and candidate data. Check purpose, minimum data, notice, security and where processing happens.
Bias in hiring. Ask vendors how they test for bias and keep a person accountable for every shortlisting and rejection decision.
Model training. Several vendors here state that customer data does not train external models; for others the pages we read were silent. Ask in writing.
Audit trail. Prefer tools that log AI actions and require confirmation before changing records.
Measuring it
How to tell whether an HR AI tool is working
Vendors publish their own success figures; treat them as claims. Measure your own baseline and compare.
| What to measure | How | When |
|---|---|---|
| Time to first draft | JDs, offer letters, policy replies: time before and after | Weeks 0 and 6 |
| Helpdesk load | Share of routine employee questions answered without HR staff | Monthly |
| Quality | Sample AI-assisted outputs for accuracy and tone | Monthly |
| Fairness checks | Review shortlists for unexplained patterns | Each hiring cycle |
| Adoption | Who still uses the feature, and for what | Day 90 |

FAQ
AI tools for HR professionals: common questions
What are the best AI tools for HR professionals?
It depends on your stack. For Indian SMEs and mid-sized firms, the AI in Keka, greytHR, Darwinbox and Zoho People works on data you already hold. For recruiting, LinkedIn Hiring Assistant and Eightfold; for performance, Lattice and Textio; for large enterprises, Workday and SAP SuccessFactors agents.
Are there free AI tools for HR?
Zoho Recruit has a free plan, and greytHR, Keka, Zoho People and Textio offer free trials. Many general assistants also have free tiers, but personal free accounts are not the place for employee or candidate data.
What is the best AI tool for recruiting?
For sourcing and outreach, LinkedIn’s Hiring Assistant; for skills-based matching at scale, Eightfold; for job-post language, Textio. Your ATS or HRMS may already include candidate matching, so check that first.
Which Indian HR software has AI?
Keka (Keka AI and Copilot), greytHR (NAVOS, included in paid plans), Darwinbox (Sense and Super Agent) and Zoho People (Zia) all document AI features on their own sites.
How much do AI HR tools cost?
Published examples from October 2026: greytHR from ₹2,495 a month for 50 employees; Keka from ₹90 per employee per month on its small-business page; Lattice from $4 to $10 per seat per month by product. Enterprise platforms price by quote.
Is it safe to use AI on employee data?
Use only tools your organisation has approved, with clear data terms, and only the minimum data the task needs. Check DPDP Act obligations with your legal or privacy team.
Can AI make hiring decisions?
It should not make them alone. Use AI to summarise and organise, keep a person accountable for decisions, and check for bias. Several vendors here state that their AI does not make the final decision.
Do HR tools train AI on our data?
It varies. Keka states that customer data never trains external models, and Darwinbox says it does not call public LLMs such as ChatGPT. For other tools the pages we read were silent, so ask in writing.
Should HR use ChatGPT or Copilot instead of HR software?
They do different jobs. General assistants are good for drafting and summarising approved documents; HR platforms act on employee records with permissions and audit trails. Most HR teams use both.
What is the difference between this list and AI courses for HR?
This page compares software. Our separate list of AI courses for HR professionals compares programmes that build your own skills.
Does Skillopedia sell any of these tools?
No. Skillopedia is a training firm. We train HR teams to use the tools they already have, safely and consistently.
How do we train an HR team to use AI tools?
Start with a usage rule, pilot three tasks with one team, train by role on your own redacted documents and review adoption at day 30 and day 90. See AI training for HR teams.
