Best AI Courses for Managers and Business Leaders in India (2026-27): IIM, ISB, IIT and Hands-on Options

The quick answerFor a long executive programme with an Indian institute behind it, the strongest options we verified are IIM Bangalore’s Professional Certificate in AI for Managers, ISB’s AI in Business and IIT Delhi’s Technology and AI Leadership programme, each starting between late November and December 2026. For a global name in six weeks, MIT Sloan’s AI strategy course is the most time-efficient option. But if your real goal is a leadership team that agrees where AI pays off and starts using it, a 20-week course for one person is the slow route: a hands-on session for the whole team often gets there first.

The shortlist

Ten AI programmes for managers and leaders

We read each programme’s own page in October 2026 and noted what it says about format, length, fee, certificate, eligibility and the next start. Where a page is silent or contradicts itself, the entry says so.

How this list was made. We looked for strategy- and leadership-oriented AI programmes, not coding-heavy data science courses, with a confirmed future intake or open enrolment. Programmes whose batches had started with no next date, pages that returned errors and listings found only on aggregators were left out. Order reflects fit for a typical Indian manager or business leader, not a quality score. Skillopedia’s own programme is one entry, and this list is published on Skillopedia’s own site.

Programme by programme

What each programme covers and who should take it

Executive programmes differ more in depth and time than in topic. Before comparing fees, decide how many hours a week you can protect, whether you want campus time, and whether you need analytics depth or a leadership view.

Course or workshop?

When a one-day hands-on workshop is enough

A five- to ten-month executive programme is a personal investment in depth and a credential. It is the right choice when you are moving into a role that will own AI strategy, or when you want the network a campus brings.

It is the wrong tool when the problem is that your leadership team does not share a view of AI. Sending one director to a 24-week course does not get eight colleagues to agree on priorities, risk appetite and owners. A focused, hands-on session for the whole team usually does that faster, and it can be followed by individual programmes for the people who need depth.

Your situationBetter fit
You will own AI strategy or a transformation budgetAn IIM, ISB or IIT executive programme
You want a global credential in weeks, not monthsMIT Sloan or Wharton online
Your leadership team disagrees on where AI fitsA half-day or one-day hands-on session together
Managers need to lead teams that are adopting AI tools nowIn-company training by function, then individual courses for specialists
You are curious but not sure it matters to your roleA low-cost course such as AI For Everyone first

How to choose

Questions that separate a good programme from a brochure

For yourself: protect the weekly hours first, then choose. A course you abandon in week six is the most expensive one. For your organisation: start with the leadership conversation, use our guide on how to identify AI use cases to agree priorities, and ask us to run the session if you want a facilitator.

Ask the provider

  • How much is live teaching, and how much recorded?
  • Who issues the certificate: the institute or a partner?
  • Is the next batch confirmed, and what does GST add?
  • What will I build or decide during the course?

Red flags

  • “Alumni status” that is really a paid add-on
  • Career or salary outcome claims
  • Fees only after a counsellor call
  • A syllabus that is mostly coding for a “leaders” course

For CEOs and HR heads

  • Do we need one expert or a team that agrees?
  • Which decisions should leaders make in the next quarter?
  • Who owns AI risk and usage rules?
  • How will we know adoption is real at day 90?

A leadership path

From first conversation to an AI-literate leadership team

Week 1AlignA half-day leadership session on your own material: where AI fits, what to govern, who owns it.
Weeks 2 to 4PrioritiseRank use cases by value and risk and pick two pilots with named owners.
Months 2 to 3Equip managersTrain the managers whose teams run the pilots, on their own work.
Months 3 to 9Build depthSend one or two leaders on an IIM, ISB, IIT or global programme.
QuarterlyReviewLeaders review pilots, adoption and risk, and decide what to scale.

This mirrors how Skillopedia structures engagements under the FLUENT framework: frame, learn, use, embed, nurture and track.

What good looks like

What an AI programme for leaders should cover

Value before technology. Where AI changes cost, speed, quality or risk in your business, and how to rank opportunities.

Hands-on time with real tools. Leaders who have used an assistant such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Gemini or Claude on their own material ask better questions than those who have only seen slides.

Governance and data. Usage rules, accountability for AI-assisted decisions, and the principles of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its November 2025 Rules, in general terms.

People and change. How managers lead teams through new ways of working, and how to handle anxiety about roles honestly.

Measurement. How to know whether adoption is real, using your own baselines rather than vendor claims.

Not legal advice. Skillopedia is a training firm. Decisions on what AI use is lawful for your organisation belong with your legal, privacy and compliance teams.

Be wary of anyone quoting productivity gains before measuring anything. These measures use your own data.

FAQ

AI courses for managers and leaders: FAQs

Among programmes we verified in October 2026, IIM Bangalore’s Professional Certificate in AI for Managers, ISB’s AI in Business and IIT Delhi’s Technology and AI Leadership programme stand out for confirmed dates and clear syllabi. MIT Sloan and Wharton are shorter global options. The right one depends on your time, budget and role.

Of those we could verify with a future intake, IIM Bangalore (Professional Certificate in AI for Managers) and IIM Indore (Generative and Agentic AI for Business Applications). IIM Kozhikode runs an AI Officer Programme with Kellogg, but its page did not show a fee or date.

Indian executive programmes we checked ranged from ₹1,45,000 plus taxes (ISB AI in Business) to ₹2,39,000 plus GST (ISB Online Leadership with AI). Global online options were US$850 (Wharton) and US$3,850 (MIT Sloan).

Not for most of these. IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur and IITM Pravartak state that no programming is needed. IIM Bangalore’s programme is more analytical and prefers engineering or science graduates.

They are worth it when you protect the weekly hours, apply each module to a real decision at work, and choose a programme that fits your role. They are poor value if you need a leadership team to agree, which a shared session does better.

AI in Business runs for 23 weeks with live online teaching and a lower fee, and asks for three years’ experience. Leadership with AI runs for 20 weeks, is aimed at leaders with ten years’ experience and focuses more on transformation and governance.

MIT Sloan’s course runs for six weeks and Wharton’s AI for Business is self-paced over a few weeks. For a leadership team, a half-day or one-day hands-on session is the shortest useful format.

Some do. IIM Bangalore lists affiliate-alumni status and IIT Kharagpur lists executive alumni status. IIM Indore offers alumni status for an extra fee. Check the programme page, as terms vary.

Yes, at least the one your company has approved. Leaders who have used an assistant on their own work judge AI proposals better. Tool training is best done in-company, on your own setup.

Usually, but you would be buying individual seats. If you want a whole management layer trained on your own processes, in-company training is designed for that.

No. Skillopedia delivers live sessions and programmes for organisations’ leadership teams and staff. Individuals can choose from the programmes listed here.

This page compares courses individuals can enrol in. Skillopedia’s AI for CXOs and business leaders programme is an in-company service for leadership teams.
