Best AI Courses for Finance Professionals and Chartered Accountants in India (2026-27)

The quick answerIf you are a practising or employed CA, start with ICAI’s own AI for Chartered Accountants (AICA) Level 1: three classroom days for ₹5,000 plus GST, with 18 structured CPE hours and an assessment. Level 2 follows for those who pass. Finance professionals who are not CAs should look at ACCA’s on-demand AI certificate, the Corporate Finance Institute’s AI for Finance specialisation, or ISB and IIM Calcutta for a longer fintech-and-AI programme. CFOs who need a whole finance function working the same way should ask Skillopedia about in-company training.

The ten courses

AI courses for finance professionals and CAs, in brief

We opened each programme’s official page in October 2026 and recorded what it states: format, length, fee, certificate, CPE or CPD, and eligibility. Where a provider leaves something out, the entry says “not stated”.

Method and disclosure. We included programmes that teach AI for finance, accounting or audit work and have a live page or a future intake. We left out reseller workshops, one-off webinars that have already happened and programmes found only on aggregator sites. Order reflects fit for a typical Indian finance professional or CA, not a quality score. Skillopedia’s own programme appears as one entry; this list is published on Skillopedia’s own site.

ICAI and AI

What ICAI actually offers on AI, as of October 2026

Searches for an “AI course by ICAI” turn up a mix of old circulars, webinars and coaching ads. Here is what the institute’s own pages say. ICAI’s AI committee runs its member courses from ai.icai.org, which lists two certificate levels.

  • AICA Level 1 is for Chartered Accountants: three classroom days at an ICAI branch or Centre of Excellence, ₹5,000 plus GST, 18 structured CPE hours, daily online tests and a group demonstration of an AI use case.
  • AICA Level 2 is open only to members who have passed Level 1: five days (two online, three in a classroom), ₹10,000 plus GST, 30 structured CPE hours and an individual capstone.
  • AICA Level 3 was announced at ICAI’s AI Innovation Summit in June 2026 for Level 2 graduates. We found no published fee, format or batch yet.
  • For CA students, the Board of Studies lists an online AI workshop called AURA at ₹100 for one year, and a two-day classroom version at regional councils and branches.
  • Self-paced, ICAI’s Digital Insights hub lists a short course, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Finance Professional, carrying two structured CPE hours.

Also worth knowing: ICAEW’s GenAI Accelerator Programme (eight e-learning courses; the first is free for ICAEW members and students), Microsoft Learn’s free module on summarising data with Copilot in Excel (you need Copilot access to do the exercises), and ICAI’s student and self-paced options described above. How to choose

Choosing for your own career, or for a finance team

For yourself: if you are a CA, AICA Level 1 is the obvious first step because it is cheap, recognised by your institute and assessed. After that, pick by direction. Analysts lean towards CFI; those heading for fintech or banking strategy towards ISB or IIM Calcutta; ACCA and CIMA members towards their own bodies’ certificates for CPD.

For a team: sending twelve accountants to twelve courses gives you twelve different habits and no shared control over what goes into an AI tool. A finance function needs one approved tool, one review rule and practice on its own close, reconciliation and reporting work. That is what in-company training is for. If that is your situation, ask us for a proposal.

Illustration of two colleagues reviewing a long document with highlighted lines and an approval tick

Ask before you pay

  • Does it carry CPE or CPD hours I can claim?
  • Will I practise on finance tasks, or generic demos?
  • Which tools are taught, and can I use them at work?
  • Is the batch confirmed and the fee inclusive of tax?

Warning signs

  • Claims of an “ICAI-approved” course from a non-ICAI provider
  • Promised salary jumps or placements
  • Pressure to upload client data to free tools
  • No syllabus until after payment

For CFOs buying for a team

  • Can labs use our redacted close and MIS files?
  • Will you help define what AI may and may not touch?
  • How will review be evidenced for audit?
  • What happens after the sessions end?

Learning path

A sensible order for CAs and finance professionals

Most people waste money by buying the biggest programme first. Build the basics on real work, then add a credential when you know what you need it for.

Illustration of a professional marking up an AI-generated draft with a pen, with corrections highlighted
Month 1BasicsA free or low-cost course, plus your firm’s rules on which AI tool is allowed.
Month 2One workflowApply AI to one recurring task, such as variance commentary, with a written review step.
Month 3CredentialAICA Level 1 if you are a CA; ACCA, CIMA or CFI otherwise.
Months 4 to 6AutomateAICA Level 2 or a longer programme if you want to build agents and automations.
OngoingReviewKeep a log of AI-assisted work and how it was checked, as you would any preparer’s.

For step 2, our guide on how to use AI in accounting sets out close, reconciliation and reporting workflows with review controls.

What good looks like

What an AI course for finance should cover

Real finance work. Close checklists, reconciliation exceptions, journal narratives, variance commentary, MIS and board-pack drafting, practised on realistic files.

Spreadsheets done properly. AI explains, drafts formulas and summarises; the spreadsheet does the arithmetic. Courses that let a chatbot compute totals teach a bad habit.

The tools you are allowed. Many Indian companies license Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Gemini for Google Workspace or Claude. Habits should transfer; practice should happen on the approved one.

Confidentiality and data protection. Client and employee data are covered by professional confidentiality and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, with its Rules notified in November 2025. A course should explain the principles in general terms: minimum data, approved tools, and records of what was shared.

Review and audit trail. Who reviews AI-assisted output, how the review is evidenced, and why nothing reaches the ledger or a bank without human approval.

Not legal or professional advice. Skillopedia is a training firm. Whether a use of AI meets your professional, regulatory or contractual obligations is for you, your firm’s risk partner and your legal adviser to decide.

FAQ

AI courses for finance professionals and CAs: FAQs

For most CAs the sensible first step is ICAI’s AICA Level 1: three classroom days, ₹5,000 plus GST and 18 structured CPE hours, with an assessment. Level 2 builds on it. Whether a longer programme is worth it depends on where you want your career to go.

Yes. ICAI’s AI committee runs AI for Chartered Accountants (AICA) Level 1 and Level 2 for members through ai.icai.org. A Level 3 was announced in June 2026, but we found no published fee or batch yet. CA students have a separate low-cost workshop called AURA.

No. When we checked in October 2026, AICA Level 1 was listed at ₹5,000 plus GST and Level 2 at ₹10,000 plus GST. The AURA online workshop for CA students was listed at ₹100 for one year.

AICA Level 1 is listed for Chartered Accountants. Students have AURA, run by the Board of Studies, in online and classroom formats.

AICA Level 1 carries 18 structured CPE hours and Level 2 carries 30. The Columbia and Wall Street Prep programme states 65 CPE credits and the AICPA & CIMA bundle 35. ACCA’s certificate counts as verifiable CPD. Check your own body’s rules on what you can claim.

Not for most of these. AICA Level 2 introduces Python and automation, and the Columbia programme includes basic Python. CFI, ACCA, the IIM Calcutta programme and the Coursera course need no coding.

Coursera’s Generative AI Essentials for Finance and Accounting is free to enrol in, with a paid certificate. Microsoft Learn has a short module on Copilot in Excel. ICAEW’s first GenAI course is free for its members and students.

Only through tools your firm or employer has approved, with the minimum data needed, and in line with professional confidentiality and the DPDP Act. Free personal accounts are not the place for client records.

We do not make predictions about jobs. In practice, AI drafts and summarises well, while judgement, scepticism, sign-off and accountability remain with qualified professionals.

They serve different needs. ISB’s Fintech and AI programme is longer, requires five years’ experience and includes campus days. IIM Calcutta’s is shorter, fully online and open to graduates. Compare the syllabus with the role you want.

No. Skillopedia runs live in-company and cohort programmes for organisations. Individuals should look at the courses above; firms and finance teams can ask us for a proposal.

We do not quote typical savings. We agree three tasks with you, time them before training and again after a close cycle, and report what changed.

Next step

A finance team that uses AI with the controls in place

Share the team size, the processes you want to start with and your approved AI tool. We reply within one working day and send a written proposal with a fixed fee after a short scoping call.

  • Labs on your own redacted finance files
  • A review rule your controller and auditors can follow
  • Three tasks timed before training and after a close
